About Us

OUR MISSION

Our mission is FREE EDUCATION FOR ALL
The Global Educational Trust believes that education is fundamental to fighting poverty.
Every child deserves the right to an education which develops their personality, skills, knowledge and abilities, enabling them to flourish in their own particular environment. Education is one of the cornerstones to success wherever you live.
Primary education must be free and available to all children the world over.
However:
• Over 100 million children worldwide do not have access to even the most basic education
• Even where primary education is available, it is not free in many countries
Every adult deserves the ability to read and write. Good standards of literacy form a key enabler in all walks of life. However:
• Almost 1 billion people entered the 21st Century unable to read a book or sign their own name.
In the UK:
• 1 in 6 adults have issues with literacy
• In London 1 in 3 parents cannot read to their children
• 3.87 million children do not own a single book
• 4 million children live in poverty
At the Global Educational Trust, we believe that education and literacy skills help individuals lead a happy and successful life, and needless to say, provide the opportunity for people to become leaders, pioneers and visionaries which is ultimately beneficial to us all.
As a registered charity we rely on the kindness and generosity of people like you. Please take the time to donate and help change the lives of people by giving them the gift of education.

OUR STORY

The Global Educational Trust was founded in the United Kingdom in 2011 by Yusuf Bashforth and Junaid Rahim and is already operating within the UK and abroad with ambitions to reach out to needy communities across the globe. The Global Educational Trust was founded due to the lack of basic education which is still prevalent today and one of the driving factors in global poverty, this lack of education means that half the world’s population still lives on less than £1.50 per day.
We work with corporate sponsors, charities, communities, individuals and specialist organisations to help increase literacy rates both at home and across the world.
We believe that primary education must be free and available to all children.
We believe that every adult deserves the ability to read and write. Good standards of literacy form the nucleus of opportunity in all walks of life.
The Global Educational Trust is a registered Charity, Registered Charity Number 1144969
